Donald J. Barber October 22, 1939 – July 9, 2019 CADYVILLE—Donald J. Barber, 79, of Bucks Corners Road, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cadyville, NY on October 22, 1939 the son of Gilbert and Helen (Wells) Barber. Donald graduated from Saranac Central School and he later married Joyce Gambadoro on September 16, 1961. Donald worked as a corrections officer at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora until his retirement after many years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Barber of Cadyville; two sons, Shawn Barber and his wife, Lisa of Ogdensburg and Todd Barber and his wife, Mary of Cadyville; sister, June Roefaro and her husband Henry; five grandchildren, Dylan Barber, Kaylee Barber, Sasha (Chad) Hicks, Brianna Barber and Mitchel Barber and four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Olivia, Baylee and Arya. He was predeceased by a brother, Russell Barber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora.
