Delmer C. Taylor, 100, passed away at The Waters of Johnson City on Friday, July 5, 2019. He was born in Cocke County, Tennessee on May 21, 1919 to Al and Farrie Allen Taylor. Delmer lived in Newport for 85 years before moving to Jonesborough, Tennessee in 2004. He was a War World II Army Veteran. Delmer was a well-known brick mason in Newport and later operated a used car lot. He was married to Judith McNabb Taylor for 67 years prior to her death in 2011. Delmer loved to play the guitar and he and Judith loved to sing in their church. They lived in the Carson Springs community and were members of Grace Baptist Church, Newport. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Edwin, James, Winford, Gene, and Wilbur Taylor, half-brother, Fisher McAllister and sister, Doris Davies. Delmer is survived by his two daughters, Diane McMahan of Greeneville; and Denise Webb (John) of Jonesborough; brother, Everette Taylor of Rockford, IL; his three grandchildren, Sarah Hackney (David) of Jonesborough, Jonathan Webb (Emily) of Jonesborough and Scott McMahan of Newport; great-grandchildren, Connor and Caleb Hackney of Jonesborough and Dagan McMahan of Greeneville. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Fine Cemetery. A family gathering will be held from 12 noon to 1:00 pm Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to Graveside service. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Church or Charity of Choice.
