Master Sergeant Delmer C. “Del” Huffman, 85, of Bluefield, VA, passed away Thursday, July 4th, 2019 at Bristol Medical Center in Bristol, TN. Born February 17, 1934 in Rock, WV, he was the son of the late Bud Huffman and Nana Archer Huffman. He is preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Huffman and James Huffman; sisters, Eva Hylton, Lila Crotty and Faye Avery. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Beatrice Billings Huffman; brother, Blain Huffman; sisters, Lois Ann Hendricks and Betty Lou Reed; sister-in-law Vickie Billings Metzler and her son Jeffery Meadows. He will be greatly missed by multiple nieces and nephews. Del served his country faithfully for 21 years in the United States Army. He served in the Korean War and 3 tours in the Vietnam War. He retired honorably with multiple awards, including a Bronze Star valor award. He was a retired communications technician for a local telephone company. A special thank you from the family goes to Tom and Martha “Marti” Chaffins for helping care for Beatrice and Del during their time of need. Arrangements have been handled by Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV. Graveside rights will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Archer Family Cemetery in Lashmeet, WV at 11:00AM. Rev. Brent Brown with Bland Street United Methodist Church will be officiating.
