Carolyn’s Obituary Carolyn Sue French, age 72 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2019 at her home following an extended illness. She was born April 5, 1947 in Elwood, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Davis) Cloud. Carolyn was a 1965 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood. She formerly lived in Foristell, Missouri for several years with her late husband, and she worked as a cook at The Highway 50 Café for many years before moving back to Indiana. Carolyn also previously worked in the sorting department at Red Gold; worked for Paint and Assembly Corporation (PAC) in Elwood; worked at Firestone Tire Company in Elwood; and was a well-known cook at Friendly’s Restaurant in Elwood for several years. Carolyn married Michael L. French on February 21, 1997, and they shared 17 years of marriage together until his passing in 2014. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Carolyn was also a seamstress nearly all of her life for many customers through the years. She especially enjoyed crafting, cooking, spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, and riding ATV’s for many years. More than anything, Carolyn loved to spend time with her family – especially her grandchildren. Carolyn’s family includes her son, Michael (wife Shelly) Israel of Elwood; daughter, Tonya (husband Brent) Blackwell of Ocala, FL; 2 sisters, Linda Jones of Alexandria and Jackie Brown of Manhattan, NY; adopted daughter, Becky Mirka and her daughter, Lillie Meyers both of Wentsville, MO; step-son, Mikey French; brother-in-law, Tony Haneline; beloved cats, “Piggie” and “Lucky”; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael L. French in 2014; sister, Rebecca “Becky” Haneline; brother-in-law, Tom Jones; niece, Kim Haneline; and nephew, Tyler Haneline. A funeral service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with her great-niece, Whitney Haneline, officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
