Carolyn K. Nellis, age 83, of Gloversville, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Nathan Littauer Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Neil and Louise VanAlstine Boles. Carolyn was employed at Decca Records, Winnig Slipper Co., Stewarts and was last employed at Espey Manufacturing Electronics until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Sacred Heart and Church of the Holy Spirit, she was also a member of the Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the former Fulton County Fire Fighters Association Auxiliary. She volunteered at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gerald Nellis, whom she married on October 29, 1955; one son Gerald Nellis; three daughters Donna (Louis) Smith, Kimberly (Daniel) Nellis-Verrego, Melissa (Robert VanSlyke) Nellis; one brother Gerald Boles; one sister Louise Wilder; Grandchildren Richard Hart (Leeann Hayes), Kayden (Kim) Verrego, Courtney Verrego, Matthew Smith, Alexander Smith; great grandchildren Camie Hart, Sophia McConville and Aurora Verrego; her canine companion Whisper; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a grandchild Tracie Hart; three brothers Neil (Buster) Boles, Robert Boles and Kevin Boles; two sisters Donna Boles and Ellen Morgan. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 6 to 7 PM at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Department or the Charity of Choice.
