She was born on December 26, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Veronica and Thomas Fallon. She graduated from the Academy of Our Lady also known as Longwood Academy in 1951. Bernadette met the love of her life, Edward F. Johnson, at Rainbow beach in Chicago when she was 16. They married four years later on July 31, 1954 upon his discharge from the U. S. Navy. In advance of her husband’s return from the Navy, Bernadette closed her first real estate deal after negotiating and arranging financing for the couple’s first home in Evergreen Park. She surprised her new husband with that beautiful home upon his return to Chicago. Bernadette attended college at DePaul University and became an electrocardiogram technician at The Little Company of Mary Hospital. Bernadette was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 25. Although MS remained a challenge throughout her entire life, she never allowed MS to dictate the way she lived her life. She raised four children and was very active in their school, church and community activities. She was a vital and loving presence in their lives. She possessed a spontaneous humor that was a source of joy to her family and friends. Bernadette was a homemaker and was involved in community theatre in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. In 1973, Bernadette, her husband and family moved to Texas. In Dallas, she found what would become her lasting home. She became active in communities from St. Monica, St. Rita, Ursuline Academy, Jesuit and Cistercian. She became an active member of her neighborhoods in north Dallas and later in Plano, founding and joining book clubs as an extension of her passion for reading. She loved her St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish and the parish loved her. In the fall of 2017, Bernadette and Ed moved to The Tradition on Lover’s Lane, in Dallas. Hesitant at first to leave her home in Plano, Bernadette became a well loved member of her new community. She absolutely loved the people at The Tradition as well as her special caregivers, Erma Darensburg and Alyce Rouwtt . The family extends their appreciation to all of these wonderful people. Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents, Veronica and Thomas Fallon, and her daughter in-law, Cathy Noonan Johnson.
