Arnita Joy Sukosd, age 87, of Alliance, passed away at 9:34 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Community Care Center. She was born December 11, 1931, in Alliance, Ohio to Kenneth S. Garra and Orpha (Jones) Garra. A graduate of Alliance High School, Arnita worked in greenhouses, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, cooking and craft-making. Her real love was gardening, and she was the recipient of Garden Awards from the Canton Garden Club. A member of First Friends Church, she also worked there as the custodian in the past. Arnita had also served as the main cook and caterer for funeral dinners, Sunday school dinners, and weddings. In earlier years, Arnita and her husband Joe wintered in Florida where they enjoyed hosting dinners and activities for family and friends. Survivors include children, Kathy (John) Ricci, Joseph W. Sukosd, Mary (Doug) Anderson, and Ken (Carla) Sukosd; six grandchildren, Jamie, David, Michael, Jessica, Nicholas, and Olivia; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert (Vervalee) Garra and Neil (Dorothy) Garra. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph A. Sukosd, whom she married January 17, 1953, and who died in 2000; brothers Dick, and Arlan Garra; and sister Naomi Bixler. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Walton Schrader Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service.
