William’s Obituary William Paul Shook born on July 19, 1932 in Young Harris, GA, the son of the late Arvel Shook and Inez Hooper-Shook, passed away Friday morning in his home of Young Harris after a long battle with kidney disease. He was on dialysis for a number of years. He lived in Young Harris most of his life and was active in Stephens #414 Masonic lodge for 49 years of his life. He coached many young members in the Masonic ways and practices of the Masonic Lodge. He was a devoted member of West Union Baptist Church actively serving on the cemetery committee. Paul retired from Arbor Acres poultry farms after twenty one and a half years as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed bluegrass and southern gospel music, as well as cheering on the Atlanta Braves baseball team. Being well known in the communities of Blairsville, Young Harris, and Hiawassee, Paul will be missed by many loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, infant brother Noel Shook, and two sisters Linda Dale Brown and Eva Ruth Southern. He is survived by his son and daughter and law Timothy Paul Shook and Leigh Ann Shook of Rockmart and Young Harris Ga. Two grandsons, Jeffery A. Shook and wife Lisa Shook of Cartersville, GA., Blake Fuqua of Rockmart, GA., One granddaughter Tonya M. Price and husband Chris Price of Rockmart Ga. Two great grandchildren; Audree and Conor Price. One ex-wife Nancy. Three brothers Grover Shook and Terrell Shook of Young Harris, Ga. Guy Wayne Shook of Blairsville, Ga. One sister Joyce Hamby of Young Harris, Ga. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and relatives. Funeral services will be held on Sunday June 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. Charles Neal officiating. Special music will be presented by Dustin Brown and Delin Brown. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Dustin Brown, Delin Brown, Rick Stamper, Scott Shattles, Danny Brown and David Brown. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be member of Stephens Masonic Lodge #414 F&AM. Interment will follow in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Children’s Health Care of Atlanta in Paul’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 5-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
