Walter H. Steward Sept. 3, 1938-June 26, 2019 Dates don’t matter. It’s the dash in the middle that counts the most. A lifetime together here in love. An eternity together in heaven above. As a man known by many titles, Walter held the title of patriarch in highest esteem and with honor and dignity. All who knew him witnessed a truly loving, dedicated man whose role was to protect and lead the family. Throughout his life Walter would be viewed as a man of strong character values. His tenacious headstrong spirit would be displayed in his leadership skills, from President of Jackson Pop Warner Football (10 years), Holbrook Little League Coach (Jackson N.J.; 13 years), a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), to Senior Executive Vice President and General Manager Yokogawa Corporation of America (22 years). His passion for chess, golf, the stock market and politics would produce many spirited conversations filled with strategic advice and strong values for both friends and family. His witty nature, humorous laugh, and passionate opinions could always be heard in conversations with his closest of friends. Those that knew him do not doubt that he “closed the gate” that Dottie guarded and now is perfecting his putting skills with her. To all who knew him as dad, grandpa, pawpaw, or friend, he held a special place in our hearts and will truly be missed. Walter is predeceased by Dottie, the love of his life; his parents Charles and Matilda Steward; brothers-in-law Jimmy, Eddie, James, and Tommy O’Brien; sisters in law Valerie O’Brien and Elanor Wegmann; son-in-law Jack Warren; and grandson William Steward. Walter is survived by one son Charles Steward (Cathy) and one daughter Doreen Warren and grandchildren Walter, Bonnie, and Brian Steward and Sam and Nick Warren and Holly Hinchman (Chad) and Heather Wisenhunt (Duston) and great grandchildren Collin, Jude, Raeleigh, and Mattie and one brother Michael Steward (Carmella) and one nephew (Mike).
