Thurza’s Obituary Paris, Illinois – Thurza E. Drake, 100, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 8:22 pm on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at North Logan Health Care Center, Danville, Illinois. Thurza was born September 23, 1918 in Edgar County, Illinois to Willis Orlando and Gertrude Mack Nay. She married Francis B. Drake on June 11, 1938 in Kansas, Illinois and they lived most of their lives on a farm south of Newman, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1998. Surviving are: one daughter: Donna (Dan) Hageman of Catlin, Illinois; three grandchildren: Angela of Dayton, Ohio, Joe (Jennifer) of Catlin, Illinois, and Doug (Jessica) of LeRoy, Illinois; and seven great-grandchildren: Evan, Payton, and Jordan of Catlin, Illinois and Jacey, Hayden, Robbie and Ryne of LeRoy, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her sister: Thyra Elizabeth Nay. Thurza attended school in Kansas, Illinois and graduated from Kansas High School in 1936. She was a homemaker and loved to sew, cook, garden and host her and Francis’ many friends. After retirement, they owned a motorhome and greatly enjoyed traveling to several states visiting friends and family. Funeral services 1:30 pm on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois with Pastor Kevin Cox officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Kansas, Illinois. Visitation 12 noon till 1:30 pm on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salt Fork Storm Football.
