Shirley M. Moore, age 91 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL. She was born on Thursday, May 24, 1928, in Alton, IL, the daughter of Marvel and Jo Anna (nee Holiday) Mellenthin. On Friday, February 18, 1949, she married Roy Theodore “Pops” Moore at Edwardsville, IL, who passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 1988. She was a member of AARP. Born at Alton, IL; at age 6 years she and her family moved to Edwardsville; after marriage continued to live at Edwardsville. In 1964 she and her family moved to Highland; they owned and operated Skater’s Paradise-Highland; in 1979 they closed Skater’s Paradise. She did baby sitting in her own home and later moved to Faith Countryside Home-Apartments in 1995. She volunteered at Faith Countryside Home-Apartments and in the dining room of the apartments. She enjoyed quilting, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, bingo and coloring. Survivors include: Son – Raymond L. (Donna Jean) Moore, Trenton, IL Grandchild – Amanda R. Rosenberg, Overland, MO Grandchild – Lisa Marie (Bryan) Ross, Trenton, IL Great Granddaughter – Kennedy Grace Ross, Trenton, IL Great Granddaughter – Reagan Alex Ross, Trenton, IL. She was preceded in death by: Father – Marvel Thomas Mellenthin Mother – Jo Anna Mellenthin, nee Holiday Husband – Roy Theodore “Pops” Moore – Died 4/27/1988 Daughter – Carol L. Moore – Died 2/14/2007 Daughter – Martha Ann Moore – Stillborn 01/01/1954 Brother – Homer Mellenthin Brother – Ralph Mellenthin Brother – George Mellenthin Brother – William Mellenthin Brother – John Mellenthin Brother – Franklin Mellenthin Sister – Rosie Fritz Sister – Katie Fritz Sister – Cassie Robertson Sister – Ruth Caffrey Sister – Gertrude Heeren. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Leonard E. Pye, Pastor, Faith Baptist Church, Highland, IL, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Family.
