Sharlet M. Deckard, age 76 of Bloomington passed away Monday evening June 24, 2019 at the Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital. She was born in Bloomfield on April 11, 1943 to Marion T. Myers and Kenevia E. Johnson Myers. She worked over 36 years at RCA. After leaving RCA she then worked for Sam’s initially driving a forklift truck at night, assisting with the restocking and eventually closing out her working career as a greeter. Sharlet will always be remembered for her avid love for creating quilts. She also enjoyed her travels with family and friends, an occasional trip to the boat for some gambling, her canning, and and creating her delicious banana bread, peanut brittle and sourdough bread. She will also be remembered by the beloved nickname her father bestowed upon her, “big foot”. Sharlet leaves behind her children Tammie J. Deckard of Bloomington, son Robert A. Jenkins and wife Beth of Solsberry, adopted son Billy Zook of Bloomington; grandchildren, Jennifer Bomgardner and husband Chris of Bloomington, Jessica Crow and husband Eric of Paragon, Bethany Collard and husband Wayne of Bloomington, Joshua Holtsclaw of Bloomington,; great grandchildren Bailey, Hallie, and Hunter Bomgardner, Luciana, and Lawson Collard, Ava Holtsclaw, and Magnus Crow. Also surviving are her sister Sara Gillespie and husband Wayne, brother Sam Myers and wife Janet, and brother in law Ron Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Deckard, her parents, and sister Susie Brannon. Funeral services will be held Friday morning morning June 29, 2019 at 11:00AM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery.
