Robert Starkey, Jr. age 73 of Newark DE, formerly of Chester, PA passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019. Robert graduated from Chester High School in 1995 and went on to graduate from Cheney University in 1977. He worked for Congoleum Corporation for fifteen years before becoming a teacher for the Kennett School District where he retired after 31 years. Until he became house bound due to illness, Robert was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education association, St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Pencader Hundred and De Knights of Columbus. In addition, he was an avid sport fisherman and loved road trips in his RV. Robert is survived by his beloved wife Sarah Moss Starkey and son Robert Shawn Starkey of Middletown DE, grandchildren: Sean Thomas Starkey of Newark, DE, Jelynn Shawn Starkey, Aaron Joshua Starkey of Randallstown, MD, brother Alonzo Starkey of Chester, PA, sisters: Marlene Jackson and Gretchen Starkey of Chester Township, PA, foster-brother Leonard Laury of Claymont, DE, foster-sister Kim Jacosks of Upper Marboro, MD, uncle Dwight Maness of New Castle DE, aunts: Rochelle Hutchinson of Tampa FL and Jackie Maness of East Orange County, NJ, his life-long friend Joseph Beauford and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway Newark, DE. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing beginning at noon. A Committal Service will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
