Robert “Gator” James Martin began his eternal slumber on the evening of June 21, 2019 after a gradual decline in health.
Robert was born to Charlie Martin and Rosa Belle Martin in Franklin, Louisiana on September 8, 1949. He attended Kashmere Senior High School.
Robert accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Trinity Garden’s First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor P. L. Williams.
Robert began his career as a Merchant Seaman. He worked for Mims Meat Market, Borden’s Milk, Methodist Hospital, and was self-employed as a remodeling contractor until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Belle and Charlie Martin; and nieces, Jessica Martin and Sherica Martin.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory to his wife, Sharon Martin; devoted best friend, Peggy Ivory; siblings, Katherine (Roy), Larry (Mary), Lionel (Rita), Sherry, Florence, Patricia, and Elizabeth; children, Ronald Carter, Robert Martin, Jr., Sherita Martin, Latricia Pearson, and Donyele Pearson; and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
