Patsy’s Obituary Patsy B. Murphy, 82, of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Care Facility. Patsy was born November 2, 1936 in Sulphur Springs, Kentucky, the daughter of Oscar and Edna Bozarth. She married Kenneth Murphy on December 26, 1957. Patsy graduated from Dundee High School in Dundee, Kentucky. Upon graduating high school, Patsy attended and graduated from Murray State College, finishing her academic studies by graduating from Indiana University with a Master’s Degree in Nursing. She was then employed at Columbus Regional Hospital in 1969, retiring in 2011 after 42 years of service. Upon retirement, she worked at Whipker’s Market and Greenhouse. Patsy was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, was a Master Gardener, and volunteered at the Mill Race Center. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter’s Lutheran School or the Mill Race Center. Survivors include her son David (Vicki) Murphy of Columbus; grandchildren Bryant (Brittanie Stott) Murphy and Brock A. Murphy both of Columbus; great-grandchildren Victoria Murphy and Damian Gibson; a sister Jean Hitchcock of Evansville; as well as a niece Holly Hitchcock of Seoul, South Korea. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in November of 1998; a son Brian K. Murphy; as well as her parents. Read More
