Michael’s Obituary Michael E. Cassidy, 71, of Ashland passed away on Sunday, June 23rd, 2019 after a long illness. He was the son of John Cassidy and Yvonne Hebert. He leaves his wife, Carolann Cassidy, his daughter Michelle L. Cassidy, his step children: Christine M. Almeida, Fred Ercolani, Debra Ercolani, and Bonnie Rose. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Gina E. McLaughlin, and his grandson, Jeffrey P. Smith, Jr. Michael leaves nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Michael worked many years for the federal government at the Veterans Administration at the JFK Federal Building in Boston, MA. He was very active in the American Legion on a state and national level. A long time member of Post 132, Marlboro, MA, he was Post Commander and a long time adjutant. He also served as County Commander for District 5 and a Department Commander of Massachusetts. A National Executive Committee man, he served on many National Committees. He was also a member of Post 77 Sons of the American Legion in Ashland. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 30th from 3-6 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA. The American Legion will perform a ritual service at 5:30 PM on Sunday.
