Mary’s Obituary Mary Margaret Schlachter, age 89, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully with her two daughters by her side, on Wednesday May 29, 2019. She was born April 1, 1930 to Frank and Estella (Geoffrion) Perkins. Mary was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy. She married John Schlachter in 1948 and raised their 6 children. They were married 36 years until his passing in 1984. Mary moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida in 1997 where she joined Annunciation Catholic Church and lived close to two of her children. She devoted her time to the church as Sacristan, Lector and Eucharistic Minister. Mary was a professional seamstress and quilter. She owned and operated Schlachter Custom Draperies in Toledo and continued her passion for sewing and quilting long after her move. She loved to keep busy and enjoyed her visits from family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; Son-in-law Walter; Daughter-in-law Vickie; Brothers John and Francis; Sisters Therese Lazette and Helen Chesney and Great Grandson Christopher Schlachter Jr. Surviving are her sons John Jr., Joseph (Karen), Jerome (Judell) Schlachter; daughters Joan Abbott, Janet (David) Shaw, Julie (Craig Montgomery) Taylor; 15 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild. She was lovingly “Grandma” to many. Also surviving are her siblings Sr. Estella Perkins, Loretta Roehrich, Donald Perkins; Sister in-laws Kay and Carol Schlachter and many nephews and nieces. Funeral will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church located at 2240 Castlewood Dr., Toledo, Ohio on July 27, 2019. Gathering at 10:00am at the church with Funeral mass at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial tributes may be given to a charity of the donors choice or offered in a mass in Mary’s name. Read More
