John Rufus Hamlin, 76, of Fountain Inn, passed at his home surrounded by loved ones. He is the husband of the late Wanda Orr Hamlin. They were married in 1963 and celebrated 52 wonderful and loving years together before Wanda went Home. John was a son of the late Benjamin David Hamlin and Ida Glaznier, of Brevard, NC. John was a carpenter by trade in the construction industry for many years. He was well known for helping families and friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren. John was always outdoors any chance he could get, being an avid deer hunter and fisherman. John is survived by his children: Leisa Collins-Carr (Tim), Richard Hamlin (Debbie), Dawn McCall (Kenneth-deceased), and Shirley Watson (Allen); brother: Jack Hamlin, 10 grandchildren: Kellie C. Riggins, Christopher Watson, Kenneth Wayne Collins, Christopher McCall, Katherine Hamlin, Allen Brett Watson, Jonathan Hamlin, Jessica Hamlin, Benjamin Rylee Hamlin, Dakota John Hamlin; great niece: Jacy Golden; 15 cherished great-grandchildren; and life-long friend: Keith Bryson. In addition to his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by three brothers: Thomas, Ray, and Paul Hamlin and two sisters Nancy and Inez Hamlin. “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11, King James. There will be a public visitation on June 28, 2019 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, with services following at 1:00 PM at Graceland Cemetery-EAST in the Chapel. The services are in the care of Graceland Mortuary.
