John R. Davis, age 82, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 4:44 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 peacefully, at his home. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorials may go to LeAnn’s Legacy, Fear Nothing, or the donor’s choice. John was born on April 22, 1937 in Kinmundy, Illinois, the son of Glenn W. and Mary A. (Ludwig) Davis. He married Judy Radcliff on June 4, 1971 in Effingham, Illinois. John served in the US Army. He attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and working on cars. He is survived by his two sons, Justin Davis (wife Nicki) and James Davis both of Effingham, Illinois; daughter, Jennifer Koechle (husband Brad) of Sherman, Illinois; brother, Charles Davis of Effingham, Illinois; three sisters, Emma Peterson of Divernon, Illinois, Ruth Kramer of Sun City, Florida and Sharon Craddock of Biloxi, Mississippi; and seven grandchildren – Tyler, Braeden, Audra, Jaidi, Colin, Ali, and Lyndi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary Davis; wife, Judy Davis; two brothers, George Davis and Frank Davis; and two sisters, Mildred Sage and Ethel Wilson.
