Jerry’s Obituary On Wednesday June 19th, 2019, Jerry Allen McGinnis left this world at the age of 70. Jerry was born on August 21st, 1948 in Houston, Texas to the late George Washington McGinnis and the late Mary Marie (Prestridge) McGinnis. Jerry loved the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys, and was a huge fan of the Houston Astros. He was passionate about automobiles and drag racing, and he had a lifelong love of animals and woodworking. He was a loyal employee of Southwestern Bell, starting in 1969 and retiring in 2001. He then went on to retire from Verizon in 2017, then worked at Oreilly’s Auto Parts, always working hard until his passing. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 30 years, children Allen Jackson, Aaron Adams, Kelly Guerra, Anthony McGinnis and Katie McGinnis. Along with his brothers Tommy and Freddy McGinnis. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and sister, Patsey Marie Haynes. The family would also like to thank Jerry’s countless longtime friends and coworkers. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday June 28, 2019 in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors. Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I took his hand, he lead the way.
