James “Jim” E. Largay Sr, 80, passed away Tuesday June 18, 2019. He was born Oct. 13, 1938 to the late Kenneth and Faustina Largay. Jim proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He returned and went on to become an inspector at Sweet Life and later went to work at Arnold’s Meats, where he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Holyoke Post 351 for over 27 years. Jim enjoyed fishing and was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Jim use to love to say he was in “good shape for the shape I am in”. He leaves his loving wife Elieen (Sicard) Largay, his sons; James Jr., Michael, Kenneth and John Largay, his daughter Paula Laroche, his step children Debora Corriveau and Kenneth Carrier, 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his brother Richard Largay and sister Patricia Forney, along with several nieces and nephews and his longtime K9 companion and best friend Molly. Jim was also predeceased by his brothers Daniel and Kenneth Largay and sisters Joan Waldron and Barbara Pescetta. A Memorial Service will be held TUES 11 AM at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST., W. SPFLD. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Kings Hwy, W. Spfld. Calling Hours will be held TUES from 9:30 to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s name may be made to the Baystate Home Health and Hospice, 50 Maple St. Spfld, MA 01199 or to the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
