Howard Allen “Skip” Burton, age 67, life long resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at his residence. Skip was born on February 1, 1952, in Elwood to William and Mable (Semon) Burton. Skip served his country in the US Army. He worked construction most of his life. Skip was a lifetime member of the Elwood VFW Post #5782 and a member of the American Legion Post #469. He liked to watch NASCAR, the Indianapolis Colts and he loved to go fishing and was a huge Elvis Presley fan. Skip is survived by his mother, Mable Burton of Elwood, companion, Brenda Bear of Elwood, three sons, Howard Burton, Jr. of Kokomo, William Ray (Betty) Burton of Tipton and Scott Burton of Elwood, two daughters, Tonja (Jeff) Peters and Betty Bybum both of Pauls Valley, OK, two step-sons, Joe (Rayna) Bear of Elwood and Brian (Tammy) Reynolds of Cicero, two brothers, Billy (Sandy) Burton of TX and Randy (Debbie) Burton of Elwood, four sisters, Theresa (Jerry) Niccum of Elwood, Kathy (Don) Wolffe of Marion, Linda Burton of Alexandria and Deloris Amos of Elwood, brother in law, Henry Walpher of IL, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his father, William Burton, sister, Ruth Walpher and a brother, Max Burton. Funeral service celebrating Skip’s life will be at 2:00 PM Monday, June 24, 2019, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with Pastor Jack Bess officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with full Military Honors conducted by the US Army and the Elwood VFW American Honor Guard Unit. Visitation will be Monday, June 24, 2019, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
