Hank and his wife Barbara spent their later years in Ft. Morgan being cared for by their family, Beehive Assisted Living and Valley View Villa Nursing home. Hank was born July 13, 1928 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to William & Helena (Wiseman) Brasby. His siblings Art, Louise Wright and Bill passed away before him. When 21 years old, 3rd class petty officer Hank was in the Coast Guard in 1950, he was stationed at Nantucket Island’s Brant Point Life Station Lighthouse. He often saw a pretty gal riding a bike around the Island. He couldn’t find out who she was – this mystery girl of his. Another gal that Hank had dated happened to be friends with Barb, the mystery girl. Hank met Barb during a movie intermission. They started dating, but only on weekends, because Barb was a Senior in High School still. Barbara, who worked at the bicycle rental shop on Steamship Warf where the Ferry Boat passengers arrived, often rode her bike to Dad’s lighthouse. They talked for hours and fell in love on the long boardwalk leading to the lighthouse. Hank and his sweetheart Barbara enjoyed 67 fulfilling years of marriage. They had two daughters. And six sons!! Hank is survived by Barbara and all 8 children: Bill (Dulce), Mary Huddlestone (Ralph), Matt (Kathy), Mark (Pam), Chris (Ella), Tom (Julianne), Paul (Sheri), Cathy Powell (Walter), 28 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. Hank was in the Maritime Marines from 1945-46 then in the Coast Guard for 7 years. Hank will be remembered for his love of trains, photography, auto racing, ranching, singing at church and nursing homes, train photography CD gifts, friendly personality and 45 adventurous years of hiking and camping. The family left New England for Colorado to explore, hike and photograph The Rocky Mountains in 1971. Hank & Barb accepted Christ as their Savior in1982 in Lake City, Colorado and always remained faithful. Hank’s Visitation will be held Thursday June 13th from 5-8 pm at Heer Mortuary located at 225 E. Platte Ave, Fort Morgan, CO. Hank’s ‘Graduation Celebration’ services (funeral) will be held on Friday June 14 at 10 am at Immanuel Evangelical Church located at 318 West 7th Ave, Ft. Morgan. A reception luncheon will be served immediately afterward. You’re invited to both. His private internment, in a casket his sons built, will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver Colorado.
