Helene C. Salley, 100, was born September 28, 1918 in Philadelphia where she lived most of her life. She died peacefully at home in Locust Township, Columbia County on April 30, 2019 in the care of her family and Geisinger Hospice. Helene lived a long happy life without regret, because of her unconditional love of God, family, friends, and country. She was the last surviving member of a family of ten. She was also preceded in death by John E. Salley her loving husband of 54 years who died in 1997. She is survived by her children John L. Salley of Philadelphia; Barbara M. Lahiff and husband Larry of Locust Township; James F. Salley and wife Chris of Philadelphia; Maryellen Elliot and husband Garland of East Norriton; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Mass will be offered for the happy repose of Helene’s soul by Father Dennis G. Dalessandro, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, located at 304 Slabtown Road, Catawissa, PA 17820 on Friday June 14, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment of her cremains will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Elysburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions consider doing something kind for a lonely person in need.
