Winsted: George B. Santolin, Born in 1923 -2019 in Torrington, CT, to Sylvio and Louise Santolin. He joined the army at a young age. He was in the 34th Infantry Division having served in World War II. In Italy as part of the 5th Army. During his service he received The Purple Heart and The Bronze Star. After the war he traveled the states. He then worked at American Bosch in Torrington, then worked for many years at The Hudson Wire Company in Winsted. He left to be a custodian for The Hinsdale School. While he was there he spent his own money to have jumpers from Boston, parachute onto the playground for the kids. He was loved by all the children and had very many friends…Loved by all. He joined his mother Louise in heaven. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph A. Santolin Sr. He will be deeply missed by his nephew, Joseph Santolin Jr, his niece Cheryl Leon and her husband George, their children and also a dear friend who served by his side, Yarnell. A graveside service will be held at Forest View Cemetery in Winsted on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 12:00 Noon. Friends are welcome.
