Gary Eugene Matthews age 67 a resident of Cleveland passed away Friday in a Chattanooga hospital. He was the son of the late Eugene and Vervie Matthews and was also preceded in death by his brother Dennis Matthews. Gary was an avid college football fan and loved to watch the news especially FOX News. He would always help around the house with the dishes and general maintenance. He loved to go on vacations with his family he especially loved spending time with his grandson Jayden. But the one thing that he loved to do was to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to anyone that would listen. He loved leading others to Christ. He attended Church of the Harvest. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years April Matthews, his son Michael Matthews, his daughter Jennifer Wallace and her husband Joshua, 2 grandchildren and his sister Cathy Wilson. The family will gather with friends Wednesday from 4 until 7pm at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel.
