Dorothy (Simonson) Schneider, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2019. She was born to Lillian and Harry Simonson on September 25, 1923. Her father, Harry, passed away a few months before she was born. Her mother, Lillian, married Carl Frank with whom she and her two sisters, Eileen & Coletta Frank grew up in North Ridgeville. She graduated from North Ridgeville High School, married her best friend and sweetheart Elmer Schneider. They were married on September 11, 1943 and were married for 40 years until Elmer’s death in 1983. Dorothy lived her entire life on Avon Belden Road right next door to the home she lived in as a child. In recent years she moved into AbbeWood Independent Senior Living in Elyria where she met many residents and employees whom she called friends. Dorothy was a homemaker and a wonderful, caring Mom. She was always there when you needed her. She was an expert seamstress. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, counted cross stitch and had many other talents. Her favorite hobby was playing bingo with friends for many years. Dorothy and Elmer had five children, Rita (Schneider) Steiner (Paul Gehrke) North Ridgeville, Kathleen Schneider (deceased), Kenneth Schneider (Suzanne) Cleveland, Ohio, Donald Schneider (Beth) Aurora, Colorado & Janet Schneider (deceased). She has six grandchildren, Michael Schneider, Los Angeles, Tim Schneider of NYC, Corey Schneider, Lisa (Ian) Kleinman, Mariah Schneider, Thomas Schneider all of Colorado. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, daughters, Kathleen & Janet, her father Harry Simonson, her mother, Lillian (Simonson) Frank and sisters, Eileen (Frank) Mattice and Coletta (Frank) Morsher. Family & friends are invited to attend services in her honour at St. Peter Church, North Ridgeville (35777 Center Ridge, North Ridgeville, OH 44039) on Monday, July 15, 2019 with condolences at the church beginning at 9:00 am prior to a funeral mass at 10:00 am.
