Delia Oneta Hakker went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2019. She was born in Abilene, Texas on April 15, 1933 to John Roy and Katy Lee Mayhall. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Hakker, her daughter Deanna Rinebolt of San Bernardino, CA; her son, Kenneth Sassaman Jr. of Gettysburg, PA; her daughter Teresa Kanter of Delano,, CA; her son Kevin Sassaman (Kim) of Hummelstown, PA, her step-son John Hakker Jr. of San Bernardino and step-daughter Catherine Hakker of Moreno Valley, CA. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Kay, as well as her brothers Vernon Bernard, John Roy and her sisters Doris Arlene, Joyce LaVerne, and Carolyn Jeanette. Dee, as she preferred to be called, was an avid seamstress. She loved to sew and created matching outfits for she and John to wear in the square dancing era of their lives. She was an LVN and devoted years of her life working in nursing homes caring for those who couldn’t care for themselves. She eventually opened a Board and Care home for women who needed assistance but were not quite ready for nursing home care. Once her children were grown, she and John began to tour the world taking cruises to Hawaii, Alaska, the Mediterranean, Caribbean and visiting John’s family in Holland and Australia. A viewing will be held for Dee on Tuesday, June 11th at 10:30 a.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino.
