Dan’s Obituary Dan Dulany, 89, of the Murvaul Community in Panola County, TX, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 4, 2019, at his home. Dan Edward Dulany was born on Nov. 27, 1929, in Laneville, Rusk County, TX to the late Stanley and Flora Johnson Dulany. He attended school in Laneville and High School in Henderson. Dan married Mary Francis Lehman on March 22, 1946, in Laneville. He worked in the retail grocery business in East Texas for over 44 years. At the young age of 27, Dan became the youngest location manager for Safeway Grocery at their store in Mineola, TX. He moved to Carthage in 1972, as the manager of Brookshire Bros. Grocery, where he worked for over 18 years until his retirement. After his retirement from the grocery business, he began working for Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, retiring after 17 years. Dan enjoyed being outdoors especially working in the yard and vegetable gardening. He loved traveling, especially to the western states with his family. Dan also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his sons at the deer lease. Dan and Mary spent countless hours playing dominos at First Baptist Church and he especially enjoyed the domino tournaments organized by the late Bro. Don Collins. He was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Carthage where he was a member and past-president of the Berean Sunday School Class and was a member of the Joy Group. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Stanley Dulany; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Dulany; granddaughter, Niki Dulany; step-dad, Arti Parker; and brothers-in-law, Jesse Motley and Eric Ottman. Survivors include his devoted wife of 73 years, Mary Dulany of Murvaul; sons, Mike Dulany and wife Gloria of Murvaul, Joe Dulany and wife Tessie of Pasadena, and Dan Dulany, Jr. and wife Debbie of Montgomery; daughter, Marianna McKnight and husband Danny of Carthage; sister, Barbara Ottman of Longview; 8 grandchildren, Shane and Britney Dulany of Houston, Allan and Michelle Dulany of Pearland, Eric and Andi Dulany of Houston, Stephanie and Ty Taylor of Shelbyville, Lisa and Jeremy Aleman of Katy, David McKnight of Carthage, and Brianna and Evan Dulany of Montgomery; step-grandchildren, Doc and Kristie Brady and Tracy and Mike Hildebrand; 12 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Wilson and Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Interment will follow in Murvaul Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Doc Brady, Mike Hildebrand, David Wooley, Evan Dulany, Allan Dulany, and Eric Dulany. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Berean Sunday School Class.
