Carlene Kay Roland, age 63, of Pershing, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Carlene’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. and Carlene’s family will be present to greet friends and relatives at 10:00 A.M. until the start of service. A luncheon will be held at the Pershing Community Center following the service. A private burial will take place at the Zion Cemetery on a later date. Those left to cherish Carlene’s memory include her husband, Bob Roland of Pershing; children, Tate (April) Roland and Matthew Roland; one grandson, Dalton Roland; siblings, Ed Marshall, Craig (Jodi) Marshall, Rick (Deb) Swope, and Ann (Bob) Rice; mother-in-law, Oleta Roland; brother-in-law, Tim (Sara) Roland of Mitchellville; former sister-in-law, Cheryl Roland of Knoxville; also several nieces and nephews. Carlene is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Patricia VanderVeer; father-in-law, David Roland; sister-in-law, Robin Marshall; and brother-in-law, Doug Roland.
