Betty’s Obituary Betty Jean Doss, 86, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in Sugar Land, Texas. Betty was born July 8, 1932 in Portales, New Mexico to William and Golda Long. She had lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for many years before moving to Hemphill in 1985. She was an active member of the Hemphill First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a part of the El Camino Subdivision and an active bridge player. She is survived by her son, Dr. Gary Doss and wife, Marian, of Port Huron, Michigan; daughter, Terrie Hill and husband, Clay, of Sugar Land, Texas; and grandchildren, Lindsay Spillman and husband, Tim, of Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Will Doss of Long Island, New York, Maggie Doss of Annapolis, Maryland, Lauren Schneider and husband, Alex, of Denver, Colorado, and Seth Hill and wife, Florencia, of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2019 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 181 Milam Street, Hemphill, Texas. Burial will follow services in Isaac Low Cemetery, Hemphill, Texas. Memorial contributions can by made to the Seed Patch After School Program at the First United Methodist Church of Hemphill, Texas.
