Anthony “Tony” Segzda, 90, formerly of Elco, died Thursday June 27, 2019. Born April 9, 1929 a son of Anthony and Helen Zilenski Segzda. During the Korean War Tony served his county in the United States Army. He was member of the Roscoe American Legion Post 801. Tony played professional baseball for 7 years within the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and then he was a scout for the Baltimore Orioles for over a decade. He was inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame, Mid-Mon Valley Sports Hall of Fame, Fayette County Big Ten Hall of Fame, & Pennsylvania American Legion Hall of Fame. Tony was also a member of the Middle Atlantic Scouting Association. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Kathy (Ray) Hartman of Stockdale, grandson Tom Kalvesmaki, & granddaughter Alexis Kalvesmaki. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Segzda, his son Anthony Segzda, and a sister Ruth Coyle. Visitation will be held on Saturday June 29, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. & 6 to 8 p.m. at Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave. Roscoe. A funeral service will be held on Sunday June 30, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Chaplin Andrew Brougher. Interment will follow at Howe Cemetery. favorite_border Donations Pledges
