Angus Wilton East 90 of Mt.Gilead died Sunday Morning, May 19, 2019 at his home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Little River United Methodist Church. Rev. Vanessa McIntyre and Rev. Casey Harris will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Mr. East was born January 6, 1929 in Scotland County to the late Sam Jones East and Helen Ione McPaul East. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of Little River United Methodist Church. He was retired owner of Peddler’s Grill and sold Produce and Furniture most of his life. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Ruth Russell East of the home. Two daughters Terry East Hutchinson ( Steve) of Mt. Gilead and Sherry East Phifer of Waxhaw. One son Ronald East of Mt. Gilead. One sister Betty Dennis (Denny) of Ellerbe. Four grandchildren Kristi Carter (Jamie), Jason Hutchinson, Michelle Snipes (Benji), and Jennifer Lopez (Carlos). Six great-grandchildren J, Zachary, Konner, Kendal, Colby and Tyler. Step great-grandchildren Matthew, Myles and Madison. Memorials may be made to Little River United Methodist Church.
