Wilma Lois Collins, 79, of Connersville, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, May 21, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 5, 1940 in Waneta, Kentucky in Jackson County, the only child of Frank and Dora Rachel Isaacs Andrews and as a child she moved with her family to Connersville. Wilma was a 1958 graduate of Connersville High School. On June 21, 1958, she was married to Thomas H. Collins in the Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Collins survives. For a number of years, she was an Instructional Assistant for both Fayette County School Corporation and Rush Consolidated School Corporation. She had also been employed by GTE. Wilma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She also had a passion for children and provided loving childcare for many children in her community. She was a faithful member of Connersville Baptist Temple where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for 45 years. She also served on the church’s Benevolence Committee. Survivors besides her husband of 60 years, Thomas Collins, include two sons, Randall T. (Leslee) Collins, of Hixson, Tennessee and Scott A. (Kimberly) Collins, of Connersville; a daughter, Shawna Sutherland of Tabor City, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Caroline (Joshua) Young of Hixson, N.C., Graham (Ali) Collins, of Chattanooga, TN, Victoria Collins, Alex Collins, Juliette Collins, all of Connersville, Matthew Sutherland of Tabor City, N. C. and Lindsay Sutherland, also of Tabor City N. C.; and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Frank Rockafellow and several aunts. Funeral services will be conducted by her son, Dr. Randall T. Collins at 1 PM, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 AM until 1 PM Thursday and anytime online at millermosterrobbins.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
