Barbara Jean Miller, 78, of Marietta, Georgia went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2019. She was surrounded by family and friends at her home.
Barbara Jean was born on July 22, 1940, in Centre, Alabama. She was the third of five children to the late Horace Lee Bettis and Sarah Lois Bettis.
Left to cherish her memory are her love and companion, Jerry L. Price of Marietta, GA; her children, Nicholas C. Kavadellas and wife Lisa of Woodstock, Georgia and Stefanos C. Kavadellas and his companion Denise House of Marietta, Georgia; her grandchildren, Alexandra K. Lavery and her husband Mark, Amanda S. Kavadellas, Kathryn N. Kavadellas, Chris S. Kavadellas, and Caroline N. Kavadellas; her siblings, Rebecca A. Beasley, Elizabeth C. Buckner, and Joyce B. Roberts and her husband Hugh; and her great-granddaughter on the way. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends, as well as her sweet and loving dog Tyson, who will all miss her very much.
Along with her parents, Barbara Jean was preceded in death by her third husband, Charles L. Miller; her second husband, John E. Cantrell Jr.; her first husband Chris K. Kavadellas; her son, John E. Cantrell III; and her brother, Harold E. Bettis.
Barbara Jean was a dedicated school bus driver for Cobb County for 38 years and loved dearly by her students and co-workers. This year she would celebrate her 40th year in Georgia Elkdom. She was a member of the Marietta Elks Aidmore Auxiliary and served as president numerous times. Additionally, she was a past state president for the Georgia Elks
Aidmore Auxiliary and served on multiple committees. She was also a devoted member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church.
Barbara Jean was full of life and cherished every moment with her family and friends. She was incredibly hard working; having worked two to three jobs at one time, she provided an amazing example to her three sons. She was a wonderful chef and loved to bake; her amazing recipes will be cherished by her family forever. She also loved to travel, dance, sing, play slot machines, and just have a fun time all around. Her positive attitude, contagious laugh, and shining spirit were infectious. She was a true example of living life to the fullest.
Barbara Jean was the most wonderful mother, grandmother and friend, and she has gifted all of her loved ones with the most special memories. She was loved by so many and will be missed immensely.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 with Rev. Keith Allen officiating, at the Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm until the time of her Memorial Service, which will begin at 3:00pm. A committal service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Monday, June 10 at 3:00pm.
