Obituary for Patricia Jeanne Dickinson Schulte Patricia Jeanne Dickinson Schulte died on May 27, 2019. Pat was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on May 30, 1927, to Raymond Dickinson and Marie Grattan Dickinson Petrich. Her parents divorced when she was very young, so she lived with her grandparents in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, near Minneapolis. She spent much of her formative years in Minneapolis, although she also lived for a time in Chicago. She attended boarding school and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She was an only child, a free spirit, and fiercely independent. After graduation, she worked on the ski slopes in Sun Valley, Idaho; as one of the world renowned “Belles” at Cypress Gardens, Florida; and as a school teacher in Alaska. In 1958, she took a job as a school teacher at the U. S. Army base in Bamberg, Germany. There she met Lt. James Edmund Schulte. They were married in Bamberg, and their first child Kathleen was born there in 1961. Eventually, they moved to her husband’s hometown of Coral Gables, Florida, where she worked as a school teacher at Coral Gables Elementary before retiring to raise four children: Kathleen Marie, James Timothy, Robert Thomas, and Colleen Lenora. In the 1970’s, she received a degree in nursing. She was a Registered Nurse well into her 70’s working at hospitals in Miami, Denver, and Leesburg, Florida. When she retired, she continued to visit the sick in Leesburg hospitals on behalf of her beloved Catholic Church, until her sight began to fail. She remained active in her church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, and her neighborhood community. She lived in her home of 20 years in Yalaha, Florida, surrounded by wonderful neighbors and friends. She mowed her yard, tended her gardens, played Sudoku, rode her bike, and walked every day. She is survived by three of her children and her grandchildren Marie Moorman and Ryan Moorman of Miami, Rebecca Schulte of Orlando, James (Shelby) Schulte of Charlotte, NC, and Thomas Schulte of Winter Park, Florida. There will be a Funeral Mass on Friday, May 31st @ 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Leesburg, Florida.
