Rev. Lena Mae Jackson Barefoot, 84, of Coats went home to be with the Lord, May 3, 2019 at her home. Rev. Barefoot was born September 22, 1934 in Harnett County daughter of the late Wiley and Annie Beard Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Talmadge “Bob” Barefoot; daughter, Virginia Temple; brother, Paul Jackson; sisters, Frances Nunnery and Vernell Miller. Rev. Barefoot preached the gospel everywhere she went including the Cannanland Program every Sunday morning on WPYB in Benson. She was a longtime member of Fairhaven Church of God in Benson. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Carraway, Rev. John Shackleford and Rev. Leon Tart officiating. Burial will follow at the Hodges Chapel Church Cemetery. She is survived by her daughters. Diane Norris and husband Johnny B. of Coats, Joyce Holland of Coats, Brenda Bunnell of Dunn, Debbie Gregory and husband David of Coats, Sandra Dixon of Coats; sons, Billy Blackmon of Wade, Stanley Blackmon and wife Beth of Benson, Timmy Blackmon of Vander; son-in-law, Ronnie Temple of Benson; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the home in Coats. Memorials may be made to the Cannanland Program c/o Diane Norris 2125 Erwin Chapel Rd. Dunn, N.C. 28334.
