Joseph Frank Ritter Jr., 74, of Chamois, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at New Haven Care Center. He was born on December 27, 1944, in St. Louis County to the late Joseph and Cornelia (Walker) Ritter. Joe worked in landscaping with the Farinella Family Nursery businesses in St. Louis for a total of 38 years. Joe and his father also ran the family business in Chamois, Joe Ritter Nursery Farms. There he enjoyed raising and selling plants to local families and neighbors until his passing. Joe was a simple man who enjoyed working, and in his spare time he loved visiting with family, friends and neighbors. He is survived by his two brothers: Paul Ritter of St. Elizabeth and David Ritter of St. Louis County, and by several nieces, nephews, and friends who are all scattered around the world. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers William Ritter and Bernard Ritter. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019, at Most Pure Heart of Mary in Chamois which will immediately be followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. David Means officiating. Interment will follow in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery.   1. I was saddened today to learn of Joe’s passing. I have such fond memories of Joe. I can still see him bringing those big banana trees outside. You never left a visit without a gift of plenty of plants. He was a caring soul.
