Emma Jean Joye, age 79, went home to be with the Lord at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Friday, May 24, 2019. Born on March 19, 1940 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Della Whistnant Lingafelt. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, David Joye who passed away in 2017. Also preceded her in death were her brothers; Jack and Bobby Lingafelt. Jean loved the Lord with all of her heart, going to church, and singing in the choir. She was a people person and her laugh would light up any room. She loved all of her family and was particularly fond of her dogs, ‘Precious and Ziggy’. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Jeannine Gunter and husband, Shane of Spruce Pine; her sons; Mark Weatherholtz and wife, Tammy of Lindale, TX and Darrick Weatherholtz and wife, Tressa of St. Cloud, FL; her grandchildren; Terra McKinney and husband, Colten; Jacob Weatherholtz and wife, Amy; Josh Weatherholtz; Burgundi Weatherholtz; and Darrick Weatherholtz, Jr.; her sister; Jo Ann Lambert of Valdese; her stepchildren; Lori Andrew and husband, Brodie; Gary Joye and wife, Bobbie; David Joye and wife, Kathy all of Myrtle Beach, SC; special friends; Sarah and Shirley McKinney; her great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the service to honor the life of Jean Joye on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 6:30 pm at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Darrin Waldroup and Rev. Shane Gunter officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at the church. Private graveside and interment will follow in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
