Janet Zutz, 86, of Stephen, MN, went to be with her Lord on Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2019 with her family by her side. Janet McGregor was born on January 11, 1933 in Warren, MN, the daughter of Joe and Frieda (Knoll) McGregor. She was raised in rural Radium where she attended school and graduated from Warren High School. Janet got her teaching certificate and her first job was as the school teacher in a one room school where she arrived early to start the wood stove and do janitorial work. On June 25, 1952, she married Ellsworth “Bud” Zutz. They made their home in Radium where they owned and operated Zutz Store and ran the post office. They bought cream and eggs from the local farmers and Janet would say, “The milkman always comes too early.” In 1978, they moved to Stephen where Bud was the Postmaster. Bud died on December 27, 1996. She was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Radium where she was active in Bible Studies, Ladies Aide and teaching Sunday School. Even after they moved to Stephen, they would go to Radium for church every Sunday. Janet enjoyed painting, crocheting and doing needlepoint. She kept all of her family stocked with beautiful blankets, dish towels and pillowcases. When not doing hand work, she would sit and do cryptograms and watch game shows. On Sunday, Janet would always watch Grand Old Opry and Polka Party and she would reminisce on she and Bud going to square dances with friends. She was active with her boys in 4-H where she was a 4-H leader. Janet was a “reluctant” camper who enjoyed it because her husband and sons loved to camp. Left to mourn her passing are her son, Monty Zutz of Rochester, MN; brother, Earl (Toby) McGregor of Radium, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Frieda; husband, Bud; son, Kevin and brother, Clifford. Janet was a kind and loving soul that is now in Heaven with Jesus. Her family will miss her dearly. Blessed be her memory. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Radium, MN.
