James Samuel Reed December 3 1950 May 18 2019

James Samuel Reed, age 68, of Niota went home to be with Jesus, on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the family home. He was a lifelong resident of Niota. Preceded in death by his parents: John William and Minnie Ruth Gibson Reed, brothers: Joe Allen Reed, Johnny Reed, sister: Debra Elizabeth Korb, niece: Cindy Reed Miller, and sister-in-law: Ann Reed. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Ten Mile, retired from Department of Energy in Oak Ridge after 35 years of service. Surviors include his brothers and sisters-in-law: Charles Reed, Don and Jane Reed, David and Becky Reed, Ralph and Theresa Reed, Jackie and Rachel Reed, sister: Dortha Reed, sister-in-law: Becky Reed, all of Niota, several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M. in Kyker’s Chapel with Rev. Curtis Porter, Rev. Joe Reed, and Rev. Jason Reed officiating. Interment 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday in the Niota Cemetery. Nephews and family friends will serve as pallbearers, honorary pallbearers will be Pleasant Hill Baptist Church family members. The family would like to thank Pleasant Hill Baptist Church family, Caris Hospice, and Dr. Laurence James and staff.
