Obituary for Florence Rigney Amos CALLANDS, Florence Rigney Amos, age 90, of Callands, entered into rest on May 16, 2019 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on September 25, 1928, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late William Lesley Rigney and the late Mattie Jefferson Rigney. She was married to the late Howard Paul Amos. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Howard P. (Jo Ann) Amos Jr.; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandon) Lewis, Jason Doherty, Julie (Josh) Reynolds, Kristen (Mark) Aron, and Scotty Doherty; five great-grandchildren, Paul Reynolds, Madison Maurakis, Allie Reynolds, Dylan Aron, and Madyson Aron; a sister, Louise Dodson; two brothers, Bobby (Shirley) Rigney and Billy Rigney; and a son-in-law, Drew Doherty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianne A. Doherty and a brother, James Rigney. Funeral services will be conducted at Liberty Baptist Church on Sunday May 19, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Saturday May 18, 2019 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence of her son, 21833 Franklin Turnpike Callands, VA 24530.
