Emma Butler 98, of Calhoun, Kentucky; formerly of Peru, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun. Emma Elizabeth Sullivan was born August 16, 1920 in Peru, Indiana to the late Harley Fred and Pansy Gladiolus Seltz Sullivan and was married to Irvin Daniel “Bud” Butler November 30, 1941. During Emma’s long life, she has been employed by Kingsbury Arsenal making artillery shells during World War II, was Assistant Director of the Miami County Indiana Tuberculosis Office, a quality inspector at AGP Plastics in Peru, and moved to Calhoun in 1994. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Demolay Mother, served as PTA president, a member of Fireman Ladies, a McLean County 4-H Volunteer, and a member of the Christian Faith. Emma enjoyed her family first and foremost. She also enjoyed reading and listening to books, crocheting, knitting, sewing, ceramics, oil painting, cooking, traveling, swimming, dancing, music, and playing both cards and board games. In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bud Butler, who died November 21, 1986. Survivors include three sons (all of which served in the military), John Butler (Carol) of Radcliff, Kentucky, Jim Butler (Nancy) of Calhoun, Kentucky and Jerry Butler of Peru, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Chad Butler, Jeff Butler (Kim), Tracie Stancato (Michael), Kerri Hays, Shane Butler (Angelia Bray), Seth Butler (Tori), and Patrick Butler (April Humphrey); twelve great grandchildren, Gabrielle Butler, Gavyn Butler, Kristopher Harshman (Bethan), Steven Harshman (Katherine), Elaura Fowle (Eric), Elizabeth Martin, Karson Stancato, Crosby Stancato, Parker Butler, Ian Butler, Alexis Humphrey, and Ava Butler (soon to arrive); and three great great grandchildren, Lily, Kiri and Lisanna. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday (EDT) at the Chapel of Ever Rest Memorial Park in Logansport, Indiana. Friends may visit with Emma’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
