Chester “CT” Brothers, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 28, 2019 at the Sanford Webster Medical Center in Webster, SD from lung cancer. Funeral service will be at 3 PM on Saturday, June 1 at the Doland Fire Hall with Pastor Ted Price officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in the Doland Cemetery with military honors provided by Doland American Legion. Arrangements are with Weiland Funeral Chapel of Madison, SD. Chester Telman Brothers was born February 23, 1939 in Dell, AR to Artie Cecil & Tressie Mae (Byrnes) Brothers. As a high school junior, he moved to Doland, SD and started working on a crew that built grain bins across the five-state area. CT enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1964. For a short time, he moved to St. Louis to build railcars and eventually moved back to Arkansas. He returned to Doland to begin work at Dakota Pork in 1988. CT worked at Dakota Pork until the business was closed in the mid 1990’s. He started driving mail truck for the post office in Huron before returning to Arkansas. CT returned to Doland in 1999 to be with his high school sweetheart, Bobbi Armstrong later they moved to Waubay in 2008 to be closer to family. In his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing & watching Arkansas Razorback football. CT was a current member of the Doland American Legion Post 69. He loved spending time with his family and would attend his grandchildren’s school activities & rodeos as often as he could. He is survived by his longtime companion, Bobbie Armstrong of Waubay, SD; his children, Richard (Amanda) Brothers of Lowell, AR, Darrin (Andrea) Brothers of Bentonville, AR, Shannon (Chris) Ferrell of McGee, AR; step-children, Donnie Armstrong of Watertown, SD, Lori (Delbert) Remily of Doland, SD, Lisa Swanson of Waubay, SD and Denise (Darwin) Flehe of Redfield, SD; 22 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Oreen, Iva, Dorothy & Shirley “Bye”; brothers, Leon & Floyd. CT was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jewell, Louise, Lucille “Toni” & Veldia; brothers, Jessie, Herbert, Charles & Thomas.
