Annie Ruth Perry Cason, age 91, of Birmingham, AL, passed away May 15, 2019. She worked as a CNA for Princeton Hospital Nursery. She cared for babies which allowed her to give her granddaughter, Natalie her very first bath. She loved taking care of babies and she was a natural. At retirement she began writing and publishing poems. She was an accomplished seamtress and loved quilting. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years of marriage, Harry L. Cason, Sr., and her brother Donald D. Perry. She is survived by her son Harry L. Cason, Jr and David L. Cason; daughter Gloria Whatley (Richard); brother William Perry (Lyla); grandchildren Wendy Kerins, Rebecca Ferguson, Natalie Gray, and Amy Wilhite; great grandchildren Katie Steinmetz, Richard Giarrusso, Nathan Ferguson, Jacob Kerins, Allison Kerins, Ella Gray, Alyssa Gray, and Bree Wilhite. The visitation will be Friday May 17, 2019 at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Family requests that memorial be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
