She was born February 22, 1959 in Bay City, TX to William Herman Owen, Jr. and Martha Zernicek Owen. Mona is preceded in death by her parents; husband Sampson Gardner, Jr., and brother Emil George Owen. She is survived by daughters Sheila Marie Gardner and Shellie Elizabeth Gardner and partner Cody Paul Coston, Sr.; sons Sampson Gardner III and wife Patricia Luna, Scotty James Gardner; sisters Dina Owen Hite, Janet Fay Wood and husband Bobby Dale Wood, Sr., Elizabeth Ann Owen, Mary Jean Owen, and Emil’s wife Mary Ann Owen; brothers William Herman Owen III and life partner Michael Jones, and Joseph Frank Owen, and grandchildren Caleb DaShawn Gardner, Abigail Marie Gardner, Josslynn Janay Gardner-Murphey, Kyler James Gardner, Liliana Elizabeth Gardner, Sampson Hilario Gardner, Sophia Grace Coston, and Cody Paul Coston, Jr. The family will receive friends and relatives 5:00-7:00pm Friday, April 26 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The Rosary will be at 6:30pm that evening. Funeral services are 10:00am Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
