Maura Concepcion Gascon 2019

Maura Concepcion Gascon, a resident of Newark, California died at home at 88 on April 19, 2019. She was born in 1930 in Sta. Cruz, Zambales, Philippines. She received a bachelor’s degree in Education at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 1955. She married the love of her life, the late Eleodoro Basa Gascon, in 1961. They were happily married for 39 years. Her calling and passion as a teacher under the Department of Education in the Philippines lasted for 30 years until she migrated with her family to the US in 1984. She became an active parishioner of Saint Edward Catholic Church and was a member of Legion of Mary. She worked and retired from Seagate Technology in 1996. She is survived by her two brothers, Alejandro & Camilo Concepcion; her three children, Ruby Gascon, Steven Gascon & Amethyst Salamanca; sons-in-law Amir Fathi & Raul Salamanca, daughter-in-law Kimberly Gascon & grandchildren – Stephanie Kimberly Gascon, Samantha Anne G. Salamanca, Espiritu Ely G. Salamanca, Jessamyn Nicole Fathi, Emmanuel Raul G. Salamanca & Edward James G. Salamanca. All her family lived in California who brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews in the Philippines, USA & Canada. During her later years, she was cared for lovingly by Mardy Movilla & Jonathan Pizarras. Her viewing will be held at Berge, Pappas & Smith Chapel of the Angels in Fremont, California on Wednesday, April 24. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 25 at Saint Edward Catholic Church in Newark, California following a burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, California.
