MATT RUDNICK June 02, 1931 – April 23, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Matthew John Rudnick, 87, Anamoose, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. Matt was born June 2, 1931 to Paul and Hattie (Schuelke) Rudnick on the family farm near Anamoose. He attended White Township Consolidated School and graduated from Anamoose High School in 1949. After graduation, Matt worked on his brother Gilbert’s farm, his father’s coal business, and other local jobs before starting his career at Martin Hublou Farm Implements as a lead mechanic in 1952. He and a partner purchased the business in 1960 and operated Anamoose Repair Shop until 1970, when Matt took on sole proprietorship until his retirement in 2000. Matt married Theresa Prom on September 13, 1955, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey, and they made their home in Anamoose where they raised their four children. Matt was an active lifelong member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose where he served as a lector and Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Harvey Knights of Columbus, serving as Council Warden for over 10 years. Matt’s hobbies included boating, fishing, and playing cards and dominoes. He enjoyed visiting with friends, playing the guitar and harmonica, riding his four wheel and two-wheel bicycles and traveling. Matt and Theresa enjoyed yearly summer vacations which, through the years, covered 24 states and 3 Canadian provinces. In his retirement, he began making intricate scale model wooden toys, replicas of farm machinery, construction machinery, cars, trucks and tractors, for which he won many blue ribbons at the ND State Fair. Matt is survived by his wife, Theresa; his children, Mike (Connie) of Anamoose, Tom (Jodi) of Blooming Prairie, MN, Harold of Plymouth, MN, and Sylvia (Robert) Hoke of St. Paul, MN; seven grandchildren, Mindy, Katie, Sara, Scott, Morgan, Mathias, and Andreas; six great-grandchildren, Landon, Nolan, Michael, Aubrie, Emily, and Eva; brothers, Gilbert and Leo; sisters, Dolores Selzler and Angeline; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence and Wendelin; and sister, Cecilia Dosch. Funeral: Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose. Visitation: 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the church on Friday. Prayer Service: & 7 P.M. Friday at the church. Burial: St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
