Marietta (Tucker) Thomas, 97, of Holiday, Florida passed away Friday, April 12, 2019. Born February 27, 1922 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth Emily (Long) Tucker. She worked for the Indiana State Board of Health, Indiana State Mental Health, and was a secretary for a lawyers office. She was a devoted worker in helping to establish Christian Churches. She was a teacher, secretary, Treasurer, Housekeeper, Choir Member and editor for the church newsletter at the First Christian Church is St. Augustine, Florida. Her hobbies were crafts, sending out cards, crocheting and giving away over 300 lap robes and afghans. She was in the hospital auxiliary for Flager Hospital in St. Augustine, Florida. She and her husband founded the First Christian Church in St. Augustine, Florida in 1967, now called Homeport Christian Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Holiday, Florida and Beaver Creek Christian Church of West Jefferson, North Carolina. Surviving relatives include: several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Thomas on October 20, 2018, a sister, Dorothy Ruth Tucker, her brothers, Robert Earl Tucker and William D. Tucker and her parents. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Prairie Chapel cemetery in rural Lyons. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
