Maffe – Joseph Jr., 91, of Windber, formerly of Derry, PA, went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2019. Born on November 9, 1927 in Derry, son of Joseph and Rose (Castordale) Maffe. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Matilda (Lawrence) Maffe; siblings, Cecil (Ann), Felix (Mary), William, Mary (Bob) Brown, Kay (Ralph) Hoffman, Jean (Claire) Conner, Edith and Victoria Maffe; and very special friend, Amelia Jane Smith. He is survived by his loving sons, William, married to the former Barbara Palmer, Blairsville, and Victor, married to the former Anna Diamond, Cape Coral, FL; granddaughter, Hannah Maffe, Marietta, GA and several nieces and nephews. Joe was a graduate of Derry High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during WWII. Joe retired from IBEW, Local # 11, Pasadena, CA, after 40 years of service as an electrician. He enjoyed trips to Alaska, fishing, hunting and gardening. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Grave side service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Coles Cemetery, Derry, PA, with the Rev. Jason Losier officiating, and with military rites conducted by the Blairsville Military Service Group. On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
